This design excerise wanted us to achieve shading for at least one indivual and use only eight 2x4 dimensionalmembers, one sheet of corrugated plastic and one other material. The idea we wanted to achieve was to optimize the use of material. The actual form is testing the limits of the materialby exploring how thin we can cut and how much we can bend the wood. The focus was on creating connections that were easy to dissasemble or alter to make transportation simple. We decided on staking it into the ground with wood from our selection of 2x4’s and attaching the plastic to the structure using a weaving technique to mimic the structural language.
